Growing up there was a story of a lady who was executed in my home town by hanging. She was the first in Illinois. I honestly always questioned the authenticity of the story. Recently, my wife and I were back in Lawrenceville and I was telling her and my little girl about it. My wife searched for the story on the internet and to come to find out, there is definitely truth to it. Here is a blog post by Joy Neighbors about Elizabeth Reed, the first woman executed by hanging in Illinois.
After reading the blog post I decided I needed to see the cemetery and the headstone my self. What really caught my eye was the Heathsville sign that shows the population to be 8. Unsure if I will ever see another town with less people in it LOL.
You might wonder what is going on with the sky in this image. The image was taken early morning and smoke from nearby fires in British Columbia had covered the area. I obviously felt bad about the wild fires but from a photography standpoint it allowed for me to easily take an image in which the foreground was very clear and the background was in a slight haze.
Yesterday’s post, I captured a photographer capturing an image of Moraine Lake. Today, this photographer was capturing an image of Lake Louise and its wonderful reflections. I walking around attempting to capture different views of the clouds and reflection and noticed this gentlemen sitting here. He stayed long enough for me to capture this image.
Our trip to Big Sky Montana did not disappoint. We didn’t have a lot of time to hike. The time we did, we made it down to Ousel Falls. I wanted to capture a great image of this beautiful waterfall but was difficult due to the amount of people and the brightness from the sun. I setup the camera and decided to take an 80 second exposure. Fortunately, it came out great. In the lower central part of the image you can see what appears to be 3 ghost. It was just 3 girls that were playing in the water.
