Leica M9 – 35mm summicron

A week ago, my wife gave birth to our first child. She's definitely a welcome addition to our family. I don't shoot too many portraits and I'm still trying to learn more about lighting. I've been trying to come up with some creative shots of her and thought using our couch would be a great back drop because of the neutral colors. This shot demonstrates how much she has to grow and makes me realize that we have a long road ahead of us. We are definitely ready for the challenge. 30 x 10.86 inches

Our Future at 2 Years

Since my little girl was born, I’ve taken pictures of her on our couch.  It’s amazing how fast they grow.  I’ve been fortunate to capture these memories using my Leica M9, Leica M9P, and now the Leica M240.

I’ve been busy the past few days and have not had the opportunity to update my blog. Hopefully, I’ll have more time this weekend.

There’s nothing special about this image and I’ve on a few occasions almost deleted it.  For some reason though, I seem to be drawn to it, always looking for something interesting.  I suppose all the lines, circles, and symmetry must have something to do with it?

Lone Goal

Re-post June 2011

Since starting this site in May I have not mentioned a whole lot about my self with the exception of having a newborn.  I have many enjoyments in life, including spending time with my beautiful wife and daughter, playing basketball, lifting weights, working on computers, photography, and work which consists of fixing peoples ankles and feet.  I guess I have to say that I’m very diverse in what I do.

My wife grew up in the country and her father put up a basketball goal in their yard.  She never had interest in playing basketball but always watched me throughout high school (yes, we are high school sweethearts).  Often times we would go out and shoot baskets for fun.  I never thought much about the placement of the basketball goal but it sits out in the middle of a field with a small tree along side it.  The solidarity of this structure interested me and thought it would be a great picture opportunity.
