The Bean – Black & White

I’m amazed how often people click on my blog because they are searching for information on Chicago’s “The Bean” (its real name is Cloud Gate).  I’ve posted this image before in color but honestly have never been happy with the look of the sky.  Here’s the picture in black and white.  I think I’m finally happy with the sky and background.

Alignment

I don’t typically take a picture and immediate process it but we were driving home tonight and as we were crossing the railroad tracks, I noticed the alignment of the tracks and the full moon.

P.S.  Another good reason why you should always carry your camera.

The other end of the fountain – HDR necessary?

I read somewhere on the web that the Nikon D800E dynamic range was so great, that shooting HDR (blending multiple images together to increase tonal range) was unnecessary.  This image was one image but edited in HDR Efex 2 so that I could use their tonal range processor.  I believe I have to agree that the need for HDR to get such a large tonal range is probably not needed?

P.S.  I posted the original picture (click thumbnail).  Also, I posted a previous picture of the front of this fountain here.

Endless Fountain

Twice a year, I participate in the AO North America Foundations Podiatry Basic Course.  It’s always an honor to be asked to speak and teach.  It’s a busy few days but once in a while I get time to get out and take pics.  Here is the fountain at the hotel we are staying at, Hyatt.

Farmer’s Market

It’s been a few days since I’ve posted any pics.  We traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to visit family and then made a one day stop in our favorite city, Chicago.  I’m pretty sure I captured a few good pics.

Here is a pic from our travel to Madison’s Farmer’s Market.  I’ve been to farmer’s markets before, but none of this size.  It completely surrounded the state capitol.  Here is a pic of one of the vegetable stands.
